It sounds like he is saying "This guy is out here preaching god and what not" something about being in "Abilene" "My truck ran out of gas." "I ran into him" I have no clue, I tried to listen and every time it sounded different. Maybe he was having a stroke, or having a manic episode.

I think the second sentence is after "a field..at... 1st and ??? then he says "towards Avalon on both sides" When was his truck? what exits were around him? Isn't he trying to tell 911 where he was?

Looked up a map - highway 277 runs between San Angelo (where Brandon lived) and Abilene. Possibly/probably saying "heading toward Abilene on both sides." That's what I heard.

I think he is saying, heading towards Abeline which would make sense. After looking at satellite images (instead of sleeping, grrr) , I wonder if he could be saying 'state street' instead of strater or state trooper. 277 turns into state street Just south of Bronte where he could get gas. Maybe at state st he pulled over (flagged down) some guys to help him get gas? Or he pulled over at state street or was trying to but ran out of gas before getting there. OR he was walking north after car broke down. At state street guys pulled over. This is also just north of Colorado river I think. I think he was trying to give his location in that segment though. I dunno know. Check out satellite map. It will drive you nuts. there are a lot of dirt roads and paths coming off 277. It's creepy. I wouldn't want to break down there at night. If it was dark and he is walking along highway (state st) towards town (Bronte), there are a lot of places he could have ran into people who were coming out of or going into woods. There are turn offs everytwhere. I also thought I heard what could have been a car at one point which I think you also pointed out. Oh and before state trooper or state street , 'heading towards abeline' I can't remember exactly but in that segment somewhere, I was sure he said Cypress the first few times I heard it. No idea if there is a cypress rd or ranch or something near there but first few times you played it, It sounded like Cypress to me. Anyway, Cypress, heading towards abeline, state street....he is giving a location where someone pulled over or he ran into someone? Ugh. Cheers and Goodnight

I am an oilfield worker. Born and raised in San Angelo. Re guarding the Lawson tape. He says Abilene. Hwy 277 runs right into Abilene. I have zero doubt he is saying Abilene.

So, I just finished both episodes. My thoughts on what's said, "yes, I'm in the middle of a field escapin. Just threw (?) some guys over. Right here going towards Abilene on both sides. My truck ran outta gas, there's one car here, a guy chasin me into the woods. Please hurry. There's one guy talking to em. I totally ran into em. Just the first guy. Goddamn (unintelligible). Yeah..no I need the cops." Abilene, Tx is only an hour and a half from where this happened. My guess is that he started walking to get to a gas station, tried flagging down a car, and that car just happened to be full of some bad people. He was trying to get away when he called 911. I personally couldn't hear any shots or anything. As for the voice in the background. To me it sounds like "we got you" or "we'll get you."

I am new to this. I was born and raised in San Angelo. He says "going towards Abilene on bronte side" when trying to tell 911 operator his location.

So, before I hear your second podcast, which I am about to start playing, I wanted to post my comments on what I thought I interpreted from Brandon Lawson's 911 Tape. I did not write it down as a dialogue and I only wrote down what I thought I heard him say: "Yes, I am in the middle of a field there's another guy and he got taken in the woods and burned out here going towards Avelino my truck ran out of gas there was one car here and I talk to the guy and he said the guy talk to you he said I ran into him he got the first guy now hunted him. No I need the cops I was talking to that one guy and they killed him" If it is difficult to clearly understand him say state trooper and it sounds like "staler" and it is not an audio real that has been edited, then it might be because he was out of breath and a lot of times when you're out of breath and your adrenaline is that you can't talk and you are breathing so hard that you skip syllables and can't complete sentences or words. Same thing happens when you are crying really hard so I that you can't breathe. I honestly think he was saying state trooper, though. However, before you said that and broke it down, I was thinking that he meant a trucker he was saying that a trucker pulled them over. I was picturing some crazed trucker person hunting and killing people. When you play the slowed down audio towards the end it sounds to me like gunshots like he's being shot by several different guns. And I can't imagine if maybe the state troopers have a game of Hunt that they play with people and that's what was going on and he just so happen to run into it because he had already been stopped on the road having run out of gas and saw these people get pulled over and hunted. I don't know. Or maybe he was freaking out and thought that they were after him but then that doesn't explain why he disappeared and why he was so afraid. I had a warrant for my arrest and it's really not that fucking scary. Now I'm going to turn on part two and I'm very interested in hearing what you have to say and what's your point of you is and what it is you think he said. Thanks so much for this podcast and all the podcasts that you do. Love your insight and dynamic. Well done

This is what I hear: Yes, I’m in the middle of a field____some guys over____we’re out here going towards Abeline on both sides. My truck ran out of gas, there's one car here, got chased int- (gasp) into the woods. Please hurry. ____one guy talkin’ to him. I accidentally ran into him. Just the first guy. egh-No, I need the cops. (I don't hear "Yeah." It sounds like a groan to me. Like the sort of sound you might make if you're lifting something heavy or reaching for something that's far away.

First comment ever here. Another word for thought instead of state trooper could also be 'sniper'. And instead of him saying they are going towards a town or city, they could be going towards a road? Also, at the end where you hear someone talking in the background, it may not be in the background of Brandon but it could also be someone in the background around the dispatcher? Just my point on it. I listened to the whole thing with headphones on. Not saying I'm right but there's some other ideas I came up with.
